Technical ranking system applied to major cryptocurrencies

Overview

Crypto Technical applies the same 0-10 technical ranking system used for equities to major cryptocurrencies. It covers Layer 1 protocols, Layer 2 solutions, DeFi tokens, NFT/Gaming tokens, and other categories. Each cryptocurrency receives Trend, Momentum, and Fairness sub-scores that combine into an overall Technical Score.

Score Components

Trend Score (50%)

Position relative to key moving averages (20, 50, 200 EMA). Uptrend confirmation requires price above multiple timeframe averages.

Momentum Score (30%)

Measures strength of recent price movement using RSI, MACD, and rate of change. Strong momentum with overbought indicators may signal caution.

Fairness Score (20%)

Estimates if the current price is reasonable relative to recent ranges and technical fair value models.

How to Use

  • Filter by category to compare assets within the same segment
  • Use the same 0-10 scoring framework as equities for consistency
  • Strong technical scores in multiple L1s may signal a broad crypto rally
  • Track trade direction changes for timing entries and exits

Warning

Cryptocurrency markets are significantly more volatile than traditional equities. Technical scores in crypto should be interpreted with wider expected ranges and appropriately adjusted risk parameters.

Combining with Other Tools

  • Check News Sentiment (Crypto tab) to see if technical moves are backed by fundamental narrative shifts
  • Use the Chart page to do detailed technical analysis on any crypto with a strong technical score
  • Monitor Macro Economics — crypto often correlates with risk appetite and inverse correlates with dollar strength
  • Compare L1 token scores to understand which blockchain ecosystems are leading the current cycle
