Overview

Institutional (13F) analyzes institutional investor ownership from SEC 13F quarterly filings. Track what major hedge funds, mutual funds, and investment firms are buying or selling. Institutional flows are a powerful signal of “smart money” positioning.

How to Use

  • Use the Momentum tab to find stocks with rising institutional interest
  • Multiple funds adding the same stock is a high-conviction signal
  • Check Stock Lookup for any stock you are researching to see institutional sentiment
  • Track quarterly 13F changes to identify trends in institutional positioning
  • Be aware that 13F data has a 45-day reporting lag from quarter end

Note

13F filings are reported quarterly with a 45-day lag. The data reflects positions as of the end of the prior quarter and may not represent current holdings. Use for trend analysis rather than real-time positioning.

Combining with Other Tools

  • Cross-reference with Insider Intelligence — if both insiders and institutions are buying, the signal is very strong
  • Check Dark Pool data for real-time institutional flow that complements the lagged 13F data
